The UK's largest water and waste company has opted for the latest intrusion detection system mounted onto the most intruder-resistant perimeter fencing to protect a key asset on its estate.
Thames Water commissioned perimeter security expert Zaun to secure the compound at a Kent site.
The remoteness of the location meant early detection and notification of attempted intrusion was essential.
So Zaun invited electronic and electrified perimeter security system expert Harper Chalice to supply its FenceSecure Perimeter Intrusion Detection system (PID), a CPNI approved PID system for protection of government specified sites of Critical National Infrastructure.
Thames Water has often turned to Zaun to deliver 100% British full turnkey security solutions of integrated perimeter fencing, CCTV and access control systems.
Zaun Group company Binns Fencing installed Zaun's ArmaWeave fencing system, and had to hand dig the trench to install the 3m-high fencing as there was no access for mechanical diggers.
The work was part of AMP6, with £200m allocated to security alone to bring Thames Waters estate up to Defra standards and fully prepare for any security eventuality.
Thames Water manages more than 4,500 sites, the majority of them unmanned, that require security to protect the water supply to over 14 million people.
Accidental pollution, the safety hazard of sewage, the potential for theft and even mindless vandalism all mean site safety and security is paramount.
Zaun sales and marketing director Chris Plimley said: We're experiencing growing success in the water and power industries because of our unique ability alongside Binns and Harper Chalice to offer design, manufacture and installation of the most secure turnkey perimeter protection solutions on the market.
