Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough was full of praise when he attended the opening of a new 3G artificial grass pitch (AGP) ahead of The Brewers' debut in the Sky Bet Championship.

And the fates have conspired to kick them off against son and father's former club Nottingham Forest in Saturday's season opener at The City Ground.

Anglesey Primary School, which has links with the Burton Albion Community Trust, received a £140,000 grant from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund for the new AGP that will be used by pupils and the wider community.

The Trust will deliver its community programme at weekends and on midweek evenings, while the AGP will also be used by local Charter Standard clubs Branston FC and Anglesey Swifts for training and mini-soccer fixtures.

The new facilities, installed by Dawn Fencing Limited of Leigh, which has been going more than 30 years and is the only fencing contractor dedicated solely to sports, installed the fencing on the other three sides.

They chose 4m-high Duo8 SuperRebound twin horizontal wire fencing panels from Zaun, which are highly durable, low maintenance, ‘graffiti-proof’ and offer great rebound properties similar to a wall.
